WoW Forever's October 26-27 racial changes make your choice depend on how you level: Tauren gain stronger movement on foot, Orc pet classes gain damage, and Human, Dwarf, Troll and Undead traits offer different combat or recovery benefits. You can also explore WoW Forever Gold as an optional way to fund your plans, though your racial choice should follow the activities you'll spend time doing.
The pass restores some specialized racial traits while adjusting broader bonuses. It also leaves Human Sword Specialization and Orc Axe Specialization out, so neither race needs to wait for a particular weapon type to benefit from a racial skill.
1 Which Races Help You Move Between Objectives
Tauren are a strong choice for routes with substantial travel on foot. Plainsrunning now grants 2% movement speed per stack while moving, with a 60% cap; previously, it granted 1% per stack up to 30%. That higher cap is attractive before you have a mount and in gathering areas where you regularly get off one.
The practical gain depends on how much time you spend moving with stacks active. The supplied changes don't specify how quickly stacks build or fall away, so the maximum isn't a reliable measure of speed across every route. Tauren also lose the previous 3% mounted speed increase, making the change less compelling for long rides.
◆ Tauren Endurance now provides 5% more Health, without its former critical damage and healing benefit.
Skyborne offer a different movement option. Skysight grants 15% movement speed for 15 seconds, but using it at an elemental convergence grants Charged, raising that bonus to 30% for one hour. A route near a convergence can make that longer effect useful across a session, while a route far from one asks you to weigh the detour against the time spent farming.
2 Which Traits Support Solo Combat and Recovery
Orc Hunters and Warlocks gain a straightforward benefit from Command: their pets deal 5% more damage. That makes Orc a practical choice when your pet contributes heavily to your solo kills. Blood Fury also has a two-minute cooldown rather than three minutes, giving you more opportunities to use it during a longer session.
The trade-off is that Orcs lose Savage, their former 1% critical strike chance bonus. Command is most directly relevant to the two listed pet classes, so another Orc class shouldn't treat that pet damage increase as part of its own leveling plan.
Troll and Undead changes favor different parts of a fight. Berserking lasts 15 seconds rather than 10, giving Trolls a longer window for concentrated damage. Undead Touch of the Grave can trigger another Health drain after 15 seconds, down from 25, which can support recovery during longer fights.
◆ The Touch of the Grave timer sets how soon another drain can occur; it doesn't promise a drain on an exact schedule.
For Skyborne, Read Leyline grants 50% more Health and Mana regeneration for 15 seconds. Using it at a Ley Line grants Attuned for one hour and raises the regeneration bonus to 100%, which can reduce downtime on a route that lets you pick it up. Read Leyline can't be used while Innervate is active, so those effects require some timing consideration.
3 How Do Human and Dwarf Changes Affect Early Gear
Humans trade some critical strike chance for more Spirit. Ruthless now gives 1% critical strike chance with attacks and spells, down from 2%, while The Human Spirit increases Spirit by 10%, up from 5%. The Spirit increase is useful for characters that benefit from Mana recovery, but its value depends on the Spirit they have.
Dwarves gain Artisan's Precision, which adds 1% hit chance to attacks and spells. Earth Fury, formerly a 2% critical damage and healing bonus, is removed. The new trait can make attacks more reliable when misses are a concern, but it doesn't replace the lost benefit to critical damage and healing.
Neither change tells you to hold out for a specific weapon. With the old Human sword and Orc axe specializations absent, you can judge an early weapon by its value to your class rather than by those removed racial requirements.
4 What Should You Pick for Your First Character
Choose around the activity that occupies most of your early play. Tauren suit foot-heavy gathering and quest routes, while Orc is especially appealing for a Hunter or Warlock who relies on a pet. Troll offers a longer burst window, and Undead offers another source of Health recovery during combat.
Human Spirit and Dwarf hit chance are useful for different reasons, so consider recovery against attack reliability rather than treating either as a universal winner. Skyborne can serve both movement and regeneration routes, but their hour-long Attuned and Charged effects are removed on raid entry, even though they persist through death.
Before committing, review the launch-day racial notes and consider how your intended route or class uses each trait. Once you've chosen your plan, you can explore cheap WoW Forever Gold as an optional purchase for your adventures.
