Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 is scheduled to add three medium-sized 6v6 maps on November 6: Backstab, Canyon and a reimagined Shoot House. Choose Backstab for mixed-range fights, Canyon for longer sightlines and Shoot House for more predictable lanes. You can also explore Bot Lobby MW4 while planning how to practise routes and weapon handling.

1 Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 Map Choices

Each launch map asks you to manage a different mix of sightlines, cover and elevation. The comparison below focuses on where to direct your attention before committing to a loadout.

MapKey terrainPractical choice
BackstabLong streets and close interiorsPair a street-capable rifle with a quick secondary
CanyonOpen floor, rock paths and elevated positionsPrepare for longer sightlines and exposed crossings
Shoot HouseThree lanes with fast connecting routesChoose a weapon suited to your preferred lane

The Season 1 launch is scheduled for November 6 at 12 a.m. ET, or November 5 at 9 p.m. PT. The three additions are expected to bring the Core-style 6v6 rotation to 16 maps, so a flexible class can save you from rebuilding your setup between matches.

2 How Should You Approach Backstab in Modern Warfare 4

On Backstab, prepare to switch between street fights and close-range building clears. Snow-covered streets provide room for rifles and marksman weapons, while interiors give SMGs and shotguns more favourable engagement distances.

The Stronghold House roof and the upper floors of the Sniper House, Grandpa's House and the Destroyed Building are important elevated positions. Broken walls also create ways around the main lanes, so holding a street doesn't make your position secure from every direction.

◆ An assault rifle and a fast secondary cover more of Backstab's varied engagement distances than either weapon alone.

◆ An elevated position offers useful sightlines, but you should check nearby interior approaches before settling in.

In objective modes, pay attention to which elevated position overlooks the area your team needs to contest. If your class struggles inside buildings, use the streets to support teammates and let a close-range teammate lead the entry.

3 Which Canyon Routes Keep You Moving

On Canyon, plan crossings around cover and the Central Mesa's elevated sightlines. The desert gorge has few buildings, making the open floor a riskier route when opponents can watch it from above.

The River sits on the low ground near the Convoy Ambush wreckage, while the Cliff Path wraps around the floor. The north Cave leads toward the Shack, and small climbable shelves offer additional changes in elevation.

Use the following sequence when you need to cross toward an objective or reposition across the map. It gives you a way to assess the exposed route before committing.

1) Check the Central Mesa and the ground between your position and the next piece of cover.

2) Look for support from a teammate or use smoke to help obscure an exposed crossing.

3) Move toward cover or take the Cliff Path or Cave route when the open floor looks unsafe.

A longer-range weapon helps you contest the Mesa and distant approaches, but it won't remove the risk of moving through exposed ground. If your goal requires close-range fights, use the rock paths and cave approach to reduce how long you spend in open sightlines.

4 Where Should You Fight on Shoot House

On Shoot House, pick a lane that suits your weapon and use the connectors when a direct approach becomes difficult. The reimagined map retains the familiar three-lane layout while moving the setting to snowy North Korean terrain.

Junkyard runs along the south lane, tunnels lead through the middle toward the Center, and Containers form the north lane. Hospital and Apartment provide elevated positions, so check above the route as well as ahead before moving through an exposed area.

Shoot House is a useful choice for kill-based camo objectives when you want repeated close- and medium-range engagements. Its readable lanes help you choose those fights, but fast rotations mean you should also watch the connectors when holding a position.

Which Option Should Players Choose

Start with Shoot House when your priority is a familiar lane structure or a close- to medium-range weapon. Choose Canyon for longer sightlines, and pick Backstab when you want to practise changing between open streets and interiors.

Before Season 1's scheduled launch, use Shipment to work on early weapon levels, then prepare one class for range and another for close quarters. After learning the principal routes, focus on one weapon and the map that suits its engagement range; explore cheap Bot Lobby MW4 as a possible option for practising those routes at your own pace.
